Home inspection for homeowners

You don't have to be buying or selling. A check-up shows what your house needs now, and what can wait.

Why homeowners book an inspection

  • Plan your repairs: a prioritized list, so you spend on what matters first.
  • Before a renovation: know about the wiring, plumbing or structure before you open walls or sign with a contractor.
  • Older homes: houses from the 1970s and earlier often have original electrical, plumbing or insulation worth checking.
  • After a storm or a leak: see what was affected, with photos for your records.
  • Before your new-home warranty ends: see the Tarion deadlines.

What's included

The same full inspection a buyer would get, following the InterNACHI® Standards of Practice: roof, exterior, structure, attic, plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, and interior. The report sorts findings into safety issues, repairs and maintenance.

After 17 years doing renovations, I can also tell you what a repair usually involves. I don't do the work myself, so the advice is honest.
